What happens to personal information when you browse the website or contact the Centre.
This notice explains how personal information is handled through the Centre for Legal Advocacy website and programme enquiries.
About this notice
For questions about information submitted through the Centre for Legal Advocacy website or programme enquiries, email team@instituteofadvocacy.co.uk.
Information and use
When you email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to answer enquiries, discuss training needs and take steps requested before a possible booking. Our lawful bases are our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and developing our services, and, where relevant, steps at your request before entering a contract.
If a booking is later agreed, we may need participant, organisation and payment administration details to deliver training and meet legal obligations. The booking process will provide any further information needed for that activity. Please avoid sending sensitive case or client information in an initial enquiry unless we have agreed an appropriate way to handle it.
Our hosting and email systems may process technical information such as IP addresses, device or browser details and request logs to deliver and secure the website. Fonts and media are served with this website. We do not currently place our own advertising or analytics cookies through the website. We do not use website enquiries for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Service providers
Website hosting and email providers process information to help us operate the site and respond to messages. We may share information with professional advisers or authorities when necessary or required by law. We do not sell personal information.
Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where a restricted transfer occurs, we take steps to use an applicable UK adequacy regulation or appropriate safeguards. Contact us if you would like details of the relevant transfer arrangements.
Retention and security
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the request and any related follow-up, then review it for deletion. Booking and financial records may be kept longer where contractual, accounting or legal obligations require it. Technical logs are retained under the hosting provider’s operational schedule. You can ask us about the period relevant to your information.
We use reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect the information we handle. No internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its use, receive a portable copy, or object to processing. In particular, you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. If we ever rely on consent for a particular activity, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Contact us using the details below. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are concerned about how we handle your information.
